The Merlin Group has entered into a partnership with hospitality firm Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) to rebrand its resort IBIZA in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The Group has plans to invest around Rs 60 crore in the resort near Joka for upgrading the infrastructure in the next 14 to 15 months. IHCL and Merlin Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in this regard. Merlin will continue to own the property, and the Tata Group’s firm will manage it, under the agreement. The Group plans to expand its presence in the hospitality sector with IHCL as a partner.
The urban resort , an IHCL SeleQtions, is strategically located on the Diamond Harbour road in Kriparampur, a popular tourist destination in West Bengal. The 130-key resort is scheduled to open in October 2025.
With the addition of this resort, IHCL will have seven hotels in Kolkata across its brands,and will address the need for getaway destinations at a short driving distance from the city, to cater to increasing demand for both leisure as well as MICE.
